
This guide explains how to use CAT ET 2025A diagnostic software to perform an Override Parameters Test on a Caterpillar machine. The Override Parameters function allows you to view and modify the Value and Mode of override parameters. This function enables you to place parameters into or remove them from override mode.

Function Overview
When parameters are placed in override mode, they will remain in that state until one of the following occurs:
- The parameter is manually disabled in the Override Parameters screen.
- The ECM (Engine Control Module) is turned off.
- Another service tool function is accessed.
Once the ECM is turned off or another function is opened, all overridden parameters automatically reset to their normal settings.
Accessing the Override Parameters Function
- Open the CAT ET 2025A software.
- From the Diagnostics menu, select Diagnostic Tests.
- Choose Override Parameters from the submenu.
- The Override Parameters screen will appear.
Screen Layout
The Override Parameters screen consists of several key areas:
Display Area
The display area contains four columns:
- Description – Lists the parameter name.
- Value – Shows the current status or value of the parameter.
- Unit – Displays the measurement unit for the parameter value.
- Mode – Indicates whether the parameter is in Normal or Override mode.
Note: On some models, a Status Parameter Area may appear above the display area, showing parameters and their real-time values.
Buttons and Their Functions
- Change – Used to modify the value of a selected parameter.
- Disable Override – Removes a selected parameter from override mode.
- Disable All Overrides – Removes all parameters from override mode simultaneously.
