The CAT ET 2025A Power Shift Pressure Test is designed to verify whether the proportional reducing valve is correctly activated by the current signal sent from the controller.
Additionally, this test allows the power shift pressure signal to be held constant at a set pressure level, which is essential when performing testing and adjustment procedures on line relief valves.

Understanding the Screen Layout
The diagnostic test screen is divided into several functional areas:
1. Status Parameter Area
This section lists all parameters relevant to the test along with their current real-time values.
2. Status Line
Located in the center of the screen, this line provides:
- Test process messages
- Instructions and feedback
- Real-time status updates as the test runs
3. Instruction Area
Also located centrally, this area shows:
- A step-by-step sequence for completing the test
- The current active step (highlighted in bold)
- Remaining steps (shown in gray)
Buttons and Controls
The available buttons may vary depending on the calibration, but generally include:
Button | Function |
---|---|
Start | Begins the test. Once active, the pressure and/or engine speed can be adjusted manually using the arrow buttons under the slider bars. Disabled after click. |
Begin Sweep | Starts an automatic sweep of pressure across the full range. Continues until End Sweep is clicked. |
End Sweep | Stops the automatic pressure (or engine speed) sweep. |
Cancel | Stops the diagnostic test at any time. If clicked before End Sweep, the test is aborted and the status will read “Service Test Unsuccessful.” |
Pressure Control Area
This section lets you manually adjust the pressure:
- A horizontal slide bar displays the pressure range, with reference numbers shown on the left and right.
- The current value is displayed above the slider.
- A vertical indicator shows the current pressure setting.
Adjustment buttons include:
- Rapid decrease (double arrow down)
- Step decrease (single arrow down)
- Step increase (single arrow up)
- Rapid increase (double arrow up)
Note: For some CAT products, the controlled parameter may be volume instead of pressure.
Final Reminders
- Always follow on-screen instructions carefully.
- Ensure all steps are completed to achieve a successful test.
- Use the Diagnostic Test Status box to confirm the outcome after each run.
