Top Questions of the IM608

I get many different questions during my consultations with existing clients and potential customers about the features and capabilities of the Autel MaxiIM IM608 diagnostic tool. Below are the answers to some of the most common questions I receive about IM608; hopefully providing you some more insight and information regarding the uses and features of this tool.

Q: Can the IM608 add a Blade Key on a 2002 Mercedes-Benz M-Class?
A: No, at this moment the IM608 does not have this capability.

Q: I have a 2009 Mini Cooper and I want to know if the IM608 can do an “All Keys Lost” scenario?
A: Yes, and it is a simple process to accomplish with the IM608 diagnostic tool.

Q: I’m working on a 2011 Volvo V70 T6 AWD station wagon. Can I add a key? Or do an “all keys lost” scenario?
A: Yes, however, you must choose one of two possibilities each with its pros and cons.

One option is to complete the task via the OBD port; this process can take up to 8 hours. If you are pressed for time this may cause a problem. But if time is not an issue the procedure is quite simple and the IM608 diagnostic tool can save progress from your last session, allowing you to pause the process and continue at a later time if needed.

The other option can be much quicker but also requires more extensive expertise. To read the CEM data much quicker you would need to remove the CEM for bench decryption from under the dashboard. You can outsource the process to remove the CEM or you can complete it yourself if you have the tools and capability to do so.

Q: Can the IM608 write a VIN to a used electronic power steering module on a 2004 Dodge Dart?
A: No you cannot write a VIN to a used electronic power steering module. However, there is another solution for this specific vehicle model by acquiring a new module

Q: Can I Purchase the IM608 in the USA and take it to another country?
A: In most cases, you will not be able to use the IM608 because your IP address will be blocked. In some limited circumstances and regions, you may be able to acquire a tool that allows you to use the IM608 but professional consultation is necessary to ensure it is possible.

Q: Does the IM608 work with the MP408?
A: Yes, the IM608 now has the capabilities and features to add the Maxiscope MP408 and the MB108 Digital Videoscope. Note this is available only on the IM608, not the IM508

Q: On a 2017 Golf key ignition, am I able to add a key to this vehicle?
A: Yes.

Q: Can the IM608 get the pin code on a 2004 Kia Sorento?
A: Yes.

Q: I have done my research. Why do you insist on a one on one consultation if I know that I want the IM608?
A: Great Question! There is usually a specific problem individuals are trying to address when considering the purchase of the IM608. Oftentimes, individuals will assume the IM608 diagnostic tool is able to complete a function or process for a specific vehicle or VIN that it may not be equipped for. A consultation provides you with the opportunity to discuss your specific needs with an experienced professional and ensure that the IM608 is the tool you need to complete the project.
