How to Manually Release the Park Brake on CASE IH 20 Series Axial-Flow Combines

This guide explains how to safely and correctly release the parking brake manually on CASE IH 20 Series Axial-Flow combines.

Notice: Always use the Tow Valve first before attempting the manual parking-brake release procedure.

Important Safety Warning

Once the parking brake has been manually released, it cannot be re-engaged using the operator controls. Re-engagement will require proper service procedures.

Manual Park Brake Release Procedure

If the parking brake cannot be released electrically, follow these steps to release it manually:

  1. Raise the header and secure it with the header safety latch. Turn off the engine.
  2. Block the wheels securely to prevent any unintentional movement.
  3. Remove the guard (2) and then the protective cap (1).
  4. Remove the retaining pin (4).
  5. Thread the release nut (3) ON, pulling the shaft outward from the housing, until the piston bottoms out.
