Error Details
- DEUTZ Error Code: 78
- Blink Code (short-long-short): 2 – 1 – 3
- SPN: 190
- FMI (Possible): 2 – Data stream defective
When this code is detected, the EMR3 control unit records the fault and the warning lamp remains illuminated continuously.
Cause of Fault
This error occurs when the camshaft and crankshaft sensor signals are out of phase. Possible causes include:
- Incorrectly installed crankshaft or camshaft sensor wheel
- Incorrect polarity wiring at one of the sensors
- Incorrect sensor installation distance
- Faulty or damaged wiring or connectors
How to Troubleshoot and Repair
Perform the following checks:
- Inspect the alignment between the crankshaft sensor wheel and camshaft sensor wheel
- Verify the correct sensor polarity and wiring order
- Check the distance and positioning of the sensor wheel – adjust if required
- Inspect wiring and connectors for damage or loose fitting – repair or replace if needed
After corrections, clear fault memory and restart engine.
