This guide provides step-by-step instructions for removing the folding stairway and its surrounding components from a Hitachi EX5600-7B excavator.

Removal Procedure
1. Prepare for Removal
- Attach nylon slings to the lifting points (b) on the folding stairway assembly (1).
- Carefully hoist and support the stairway using appropriate lifting equipment.
2. Detach Initial Fasteners
- Remove the 2 bolts and 2 washers (1).
- Remove the 2 clips (2) securing components.
3. Disconnect Wiring
- Unplug connector (4).
- Move the wire harness (3) away from the work area.
4. Disconnect Hydraulic Hoses
- Detach hoses (1) and (2) — two of each.
⚠️ CAUTION: Always support the stairway with nylon slings when removing it.
5. Hoist and Retract the Stairway
- Slowly lift the stairway (3) and move it into its retracted position.
6. Protect the Cylinder Rod
- Cover the cylinder rod (c) with soft rubber to prevent damage during removal.
7. Remove Lift Cylinder Mounting Hardware
- Remove 2 nuts (5) and bolt (2) using a 13 mm tool.
- Extract pin (4) to disconnect the lift cylinder (1) from bracket (3).
8. Repeat Cylinder Disconnection
- Repeat steps 6 to 7 for the second lift cylinder (1).
❗IMPORTANT: The split pin (8) is non-reusable. Always replace it after removal.
9. Disconnect Rod Assembly
- Remove split pin (8) and pin (7).
- Detach rod (9) from bracket (6).
10. Disconnect Second Rod
- Remove 2 nuts (5) and bolt (3).
- Extract pin (6) and detach rod (2) from bracket (4).
- Repeat steps 9 to 10 for the second rod (2).
11. Final Disassembly of Stairway
- Remove 2 nuts (10) and bolt (7).
- Remove both pins (8) from the brackets.
- Fully detach the folding stairway assembly (1) from the 2 mounting brackets (9).
12. Remove Electrical and Alarm Components
- Remove bolt, washer (3), and clip (4) using a 17 mm tool.
- Remove clip band (6).
- Disconnect connector (2) and remove it from bracket (1).
13. Remove Alarm/Flashlight Assembly
- Remove 2 bolts and washers (8).
- Detach the alarm/flashlight assembly (7) from the stairway.
