How to Resolve PCC1302 PowerCommand Code 2912 – Power Reconnect Switch Error

Issue: PCC1302 PowerCommand Code 2912 indicates a voltage configuration change while the generator was running. This typically occurs when the voltage selector switch is moved or when there are issues with the wiring or voltage position switch.

Possible Causes:

  1. The voltage selector switch was inadvertently turned off or adjusted while the generator was operating.
  2. Open circuit or poor connection in the wiring harness or voltage position switch.
  3. A damaged or malfunctioning voltage position switch.

Diagnosis and Repair:

1. Voltage Selector Switch Moved During Operation:

  • Action: Restart the generator and ensure the voltage selector switch is in a fixed position before starting.
  • Prevention: Do not operate the voltage selector switch while the generator is running.

2. Open Circuit in Wiring Harness or Voltage Position Switch Connection:

  • Action Steps:
    • a. Inspect the engine wiring harness and connector pins for any issues such as corrosion, bent or broken pins, or damage.
    • b. Disconnect the engine wiring harness connector from the extension wiring harness.
    • c. Check for corrosion, bent, broken, or displaced pins. Ensure connectors are not loose or missing seals.
    • d. Look for moisture in or on the connectors.
    • e. Check for dirt or deposits in the connector pins.
    • f. Disconnect wiring harness connector J20 from the control and voltage selector switch.
    • g. Measure the resistance of each pin from the J20 harness connector to its corresponding voltage selector terminal. The resistance should be 5 ohms or less.
    • h. Measure the resistance of each pin from the J20 harness connector to ground. Resistance should be open or infinite.
    • i. If the resistance readings are outside specifications, repair or replace the wiring harness as necessary.

3. Damaged or Defective Voltage Position Switch:

  • Action Steps:
    • a. Test the voltage position switch by manually moving it through its range of motion.
    • b. Visually inspect the switch for any broken or loose contacts, damage to the switching mechanism, or any abnormal noises or rattles when vibrated.
    • c. Check for signs of excessive heat around the switch.
    • d. If damage is found or if the switch is not functioning properly, replace the switch as needed.
